Deep Roots: The History and Future of our Forests
Caleb Musgrave joins our Conservation Café to walk us through the ancient history of forests in our region, the various factors that have influenced their composition throughout history, as well as the present threats they face and what the future holds. Caleb has devoted the past twenty five years of his life to learning all he can in the fields of traditional ecological knowledge and bushcraft. Caleb is a Mississauga Anishinaabe man from Rice Lake Ontario, who has been training in wilderness survival, bushcraft and traditional woodcraft since he was a child. Since 2008, Caleb has been the owner and director of Canadian Bushcraft, Ontario’s leader in wilderness skills ranging from blacksmithing and homesteading, to week long survival training courses, to guiding long trips into the backcountry. Caleb has trained over twenty thousand individuals, both in the field and in the classroom. Caleb is host of the Canadian Bushcraft Podcast, a weekly online radio show, discussing all things wilderness.
