November 7 the Thousand Islands Watershed Land Trust is bringing you Ontario Farmland Trust to explain the conservation benefits and  tax advantages. Please share this poster with anyone who could be interested.  Nov 7, 1:00 at the corner of the Thousand Islands Parkway and Reynolds Rd.
It's another example of TIWLT helping with conservation in many ways.

We’re celebrating conservation heroes at the Arthur Child Heritage Museum in Gananoque at the 2017 AGM. Conservation isn’t just up to governments any more. It’s up to us. With an informative workshop on EcoGifts—tax benefits for conservation options for your land—you can learn to be a conservation hero too. We are very lucky to host Laura Kucey, of EcoGifts Canada, an excellent speaker and the most knowledgable person in Canada on the subject.

You Did It! We are pleased to honour some the land donors: John & Pat Peach, Morris and Joyce Huck and Douglas and Blu Mackintosh. Three cheers for you as well. You had a hand in conserving those properties through your memberships and donations.

A Continental Breakfast will be available at 9:00 AM. Please come and celebrate with us, learn what we are doing and find out what EcoGifts can do for you. Afterwards, we’ll continue on to the Mackintosh property for a walk with biologists and foresters and erect a Canada 150 sign to honour the beautiful EcoGift the Mackintosh family gave.

If you can, please let us know you are coming in order to have enough breakfast and lunch.
Any questions? info@tiwlt.ca
See you there,

American Friends of Canadian Land Trusts Workshop July 30, 2016

American Friends of Canadian Land Trusts (www.afoclt.org) is a US charity, recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as a 501(c)(3) publicly supported organization, yet its purpose is preservation of Canada’s natural heritage as explained in its mission statement. American Friends partners with Canadian conservation organizations and American owners of environmentally and ecologically significant lands to protect Canada’s natural lands, clean water, abundant habitat and quality of life for citizens of both countries.

To achieve its mission, American Friends facilitates donations of land and funding from U.S. taxpayers to qualified Canadian conservation organizations.  As a result of its favorable tax status in both countries, all types of charitable gifts to AF are tax deductible for U.S. taxpayers. Donations of land and easements are not subject to Canadian capital gains taxes.

Thousand Islands Watershed Land Trust (TIWLT) is an approved partner and therefore can receive cash grants or gifts of land from American Friends. If you are a US taxpayer, you can make a contribution of cash or securities to American Friends, together with a request that American Friends make a grant to TIWLT. Please use this template form for donations of cash [link below on this page] to make your grant request, and include it with your cash donation. You may make your contribution via the PayPal link on American Friends’ website (http://www.afoclt.org/donate-2/donate-online/) but be sure to send your grant request, either by mail or electronically.  If you are interested in donating stocks, bonds or other securities please use the template for gifts of securities [see link to the form below on this page].

Contact Sandra Tassel, Program Coordinator, at American Friends if you have questions, or for additional instructions on donating securities. (360) 515-7171 or info@afoclt.org. For more information you can also refer to http://www.afoclt.org/donate-2/cash-donation-process/
